Because I walked this road myself. I didn't read about it in theory, I lived it. From losing the title and peeling off the labels, to building products, a team of agents, and Cleo, all without writing a single line of code. I'm not coming to talk to you about inspiration, but to show you exactly the path I took.
Life asked a lot of me. A third-culture kid who grew up in Kenya, navigating between systems of rules and borders. Chapter one, chapter two, blending families. Employee, freelancer, employee again. Diagnosed with ADHD at 36. A manager with a track record who was let go twice, always with the feeling that I had far more to give than the organization allowed.
Today I understand it was all connecting dots. The system simply didn't know how to file it, so it called it "scattered", drew me a box and pushed me inside.
Last January they took my label away. So I did the only thing I knew: I went to build what would grow and multiply me. I built a product, a team of agents, and Cleo, who answers her own emails. All without a single line of code in my biography. Let the record show.
When that happens, when you allow it, this ability that everyone has reveals itself again. The twist, the scratch, the scar. Call it what you like. That's the part that's worth something, and it's you.
Along the way I meet plenty of people who say "I'm comfortable, work is like family", and organizations that only experiment cautiously. But this isn't going anywhere. There's a technology here that can empower us and bring us back to ourselves, if we only learn to use it right. Ignore it, keep your head down and wait for it to pass? That's simply not an option.
Come. It'll be interesting.
